Hi...My name is George(46 years old),and I live in St James MN. That's about a 35 minute drive south of Mankato for those of you interested in exactly where St James is..:)
Please take 5 minutes to read my bucket list dream. I'm just seeking RV travel information for this winter on where to stay, and some other questions. Perhaps someone an refer me to a RV Chat or RV Forum where I can get answers to my questions.
I would so appreciate it..:)
Last year I was diagnosed with AML.That's Acute Myeloid Leukemia in the short way of saying it.
When it comes to blood cancer, this is one of the worse ones imaginable.
I believe it was around Sept 11th 2014 the Dr's came into my hospital room explaining to me I had only 2 weeks to live without chemotherapy, due to the fact my bad white blood cells consumed 93-95% of my blood.
They gave me a 30% chance at best of survival, and that don't include the ever lasting threat of Graft Vs Host Disease either.I've had four rounds of chemotherapy, and the last round was a "whopper" before I received my transplant.
I spent about 8 months in Rochester Mn at the Mayo, and time at a nearby hotel doing outpatient, because you have to check in every day for blood tests, and an exam to make sure all is going according to plan after the chemotherapy, then the same procedure for the transplant for 100 days.
It was the longest, hardest, most depressing time of my life.
The tears, the memories one has..EVERYTHING,That don't even include the thoughts I had for my future. Those were all gone.
My only dream was will I ever get to go home again, and have a beer with my family around a campfire.Go fishing with my friends, camping, work in my garden one last time...Lay in my bed, feel a cool breeze coming in my window listening to the crickets at night.
Believe me,I had no elaborate bucket list to accomplish, just praying for a few more good days to do the most simplest of things, the everyday things one takes advantage of,by not knowing how truely beautiful they are, when one is in good health.
At present..I made it home!!..(May 2015)(happy smile).I have a crap load of restrictions, but hey..."I'm Happy" to be alive!!
I can't fish, work in the garden,or do the things I use to do,but maybe someday again when my immunity gets back to where it's suppose to be.Not only that, but very weak, lost all my strength from being in bed most the time for many months, and just a shell of a man that I use to be.
I am alot wiser though, and more spiritual you could say.I'm a changed man for all the better in my way of thinking, and how I see the world, and how it works.
I'm donating most my time now helping others with AML,and it's just as rewarding as I use to find while playing in my vegetable garden.I always believed the best place donating my free time was in the garden, and never thought I'd ever see a day when I'd think othewise..hahahaha..:)
Am I cured?
Sadly to say in when it comes to Acute Myeloid Leukemia. It'll take a couple of years to surely know, and some Dr's say as long as 5 years. It takes just one out of whack white blood cell to show up again, and multiply like wildfire in my blood.
In that case,I move on to various other ways of treating my disease, and forgive me if I don't really want to get deatailed into that potential outcome. It's something I'd rather not think about until it would actually happen.
I myself donate my time to Acute Myeloid Leukemia by helping others who are going through this with their questions, and concerns, and also by spending time each day help others with positive feed back, hope, and encouragement that they are going to make it through this battle.
I'd so appreciate some good information..:)
I'm seeking help with some RV Travel Information.
I'm seeking someone to help me on some good information on the best RV Chat, or an RV Forum where I can get traveling information for someone on a tight budget, some good campgrounds to set up camp for the winter, in the South West U.S...and whatever other tips you want to send my way. I'm strongly leaning on Southern Arizona or New Mexico.
My family is helping me to borrow/buy a Class C Size Motor Home.
I plan on leaving after Christmas, so the winter driving worries me a little, but we'd be pretty much bee line it straight south to a warmer climate....I'm in Southern Minnesota now.
I have so many questions, and I'll try to give a quick summary on the type of information I'm seeking.
Does anyone know of any warm places I can set up camp, with a little privacy? A campground with hookups (sewer,water,electric)..and possibly a campground where a person has a little space. Not so boxed in like so many of the RV Parks I've researched online...They appear so close, that I just can't believe you wouldn't hear them using the bathroom in their own camper.
Plus, if I'd BBQ...you could smoke someone out...Am I wrong?...I'm so new to this, and am just wondering if someone has an RV campground in mind, that has a little space to it for each camper.
Perhaps affordable campgrounds to stay at with hook up, with a little privacy instead of everyone being so cramped in?
How about camping on Federal Land. Does anybody know any cool places where I can camp for free, and park my RV also?....Then every few days go to an RV campground and drain my tank, take some showers, do laundry for the weekend?
I know this is the worse time of year to be asking these questions, I just want to get out there and get some air under my wings....Just hoping there are some RV travel experts out there, that can recommend a place that they like, and might fit my needs.
I enjoy campfires, privacy.., and enjoy sky watching, fossil hunting, and looking for arrowheads.
I love metal detecting too...and plan on bbq'ing, sitting in my camping chair enjoying nature.
That's why I'd like to camp on some Federal Land...so I could metal detect, and rock hound.
I know I'm asking a lot, and maybe reaching out for answers, that just aint available in the winter months.
I just want to find affordability, privacy, perhaps some scenery, and some place as an added bonus to play with my metal detector.
Like I mentioned earlier, I'll be camping in a Class C size RV.
If anyone can recommend places they stayed at,that they enjoyed...and were some what affordable, please let me know...I'd so appreciate it..:)
Also...where would you recommend camping with an RV in the winter, where the temps were tolerable?
Can anyone give me a lead on the best RV Chat to ask my various questions, or some kind of RV Forum where people contribute travel inforformation for RV Camping ?
You can contact me below, and I promise to thank you..:)
George.....P.S...Sorry for yacking so long...auuugh..:)
